The Aboriginal Youth Ambassador (AYA) Program provides Aboriginal youth with the training and opportunity to discover, build and share their unique story at high profile tourism venues in a way that bridges the Native and non-Native worlds, delights visitors and fosters the Aboriginal leaders of tomorrow.

AYA has held programs at various high profile tourism venues such as:

  • Grouse Mountain Hiwus Feasthouse
  • Squamish Adventure Centre
  • Shannon Falls Provincial Park

AYA is hosted by the Squamish Nation and is open to participants from all First Nations.  Since the year 2000, youth from across British Columbia and Canada have participated.

AYA’s goal is to train 210 Aboriginal Youth Ambassadors in time for the 2010 Olympic and Paralymipc Winter Games.
